All Time Low at an All Time High?

I’m sure that you’ve heard at least one of the tracks from All Time Low’s newest album, Nothing Personal. Even though I wouldn’t call myself a huge fan, I have to give them a few great songs off of this highly anticipated third full-length album. Between the extremely catchy chorus from Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t)and the slower, different kind of feel to Sick Little Games, they’re off to a good start. To take it a little differently this time, i’m going to try something new. I’ll go song by song and tell you exactly how I feel about them.

1.Weightless- It started to worry me, and the overused techno beat at the beginning might be a huge turn-off to many listeners, but starting with the pre-chorus and lasting until the end is where this really starts to shine/

    2. Break Your Little Heart-This one is okay, not too much to say about it. I like it, but there’s nothing too original about it, it sounds like a song you’ve already heard before somewhere else.

    3. Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t)-Definitely one of my favorites off of the album. The chorus is very catchy and it just has an upbeat party feel throughout the whole thing, but aren’t these the reasons that we fell in love with All Time Low in the first place?

    4. Lost In Stereo-Yet another upbeat, fantastic song off of the album. Normally I’m not a huge fan of the techno boy band-ish style, but they really pulled this off well.

    5. Stella- To be honest, it’s not something that I would really expect off of an All Time Low album. It’s one of those songs that grows on you. Whether you like it the first listen or not, you’ll grow to love it soon enough.

    6. Sick Little Games-An entirely different feel, more of a heartfelt song. These kind of songs are what I would like more of from All Time Low. It sticks out, it’s different, and it’s just plain good.

    7. Hello, Brooklyn-I know that this is probably nothing that you haven’t already heard (or experienced for yourself), but this song isn’t terrible,it’s just not the best. It’s just too, well, unoriginal. I really can’t explain it, just go listen to it.

    8. Walls-I know a lot of people hate this one, but I like it. It shows a different side of All Time Low, much like I said about Sick Little Games. You’ll either love it or hate it.

    9. Too Much-It sounds like an *NSYNC song that they scrapped off of an album because it was too “boy band-ish”. It’s exactly what the title suggests, just too much. But in all fairness, it’s not as bad as most people make it out to be. I would’ve preferred it if this was the iTunes exclusive and Poison was actually on the album, but I won’t get into that.

    10. Keep the Change, You Filthy Animal- This one was okay, nothing too special about it, but not bad.

    11. A Party Song (The Walk of Shame)- The beginning gang vocals really reminds me of Hey Monday’s breakout song, “How You Love Me Now”, but anyway, this is a good one too. Definitely a new crowd favorite due to it’s upbeat, party feel. It’s another really catchy one.

    12. Therapy- Not a whole lot to say about this one, it’s basically this album’s “Remembering Sunday”.

Well, there you go! One minor complaint that I have is the use of auto-tune on a few songs. Whether you’re a fan of ATL or not, you have to admit, Mr. Gaskarth can sing.

Personally, I give it a 4 out of 5. It is a very good album, but it’s not very original. With the exception of a few memorable tracks, like Sick Little Games and Stella, to name a few, it sounds like something you’ve heard before. Either way, this album is more than enough to launch All Time Low into super-stardom. You can catch them on the Glamour Kills Tour this Fall with We The Kings, Hey Monday, and The Friday Night Boys. Skinny jean-wearing fan girls rejoice, you’re precious All Time Low is at the top of their game. Nothing Personal.

i got invited to the Glamour Kills tour,

    nickiephresh:

and i really want to go, seeing how i’ve recently changed my mind about how much i dislike ATL, but i really don’t like the girl who invited me.

she’s so fake, and she was horrible to me the entire time we were friends. she tried to steal my damn boyfriend! -.-

    i’m still a bit bitter, if you haven’t noticed…

should i put the past in the past for the sake of ATL?

well i’m posting a review of their new album later on today, pleasee check it out, it’d mean a lot (: oh, and i think it’ll be worth it (:

    new review coming later! (:

want me to give you a hint? sorry, i don’t do that-nothing personal

did you catch that? haha (:

Here comes another Disney Pop-Princess who just HAD to release an album. Now, hold on, before i start getting all this hate mail about how talented Selena Gomez, how much I suck, yadda yadda yadda, here me out.
I will admit, Selena Gomez IS very talented, AS AN ACTRESS. Really now, does EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON DISNEY CHANNEL NEED TO RELEASE AN ALBUM? Anyway, here’s what I honestly think of it.
Selena Gomez joins the ranks of Mitchell Musso, Tiffany Thornton, Aly & AJ, Ashley Tisdale, (and the list goes on and on), people who DIDN’T NEED to make an album.
One thing that I can’t honestly call it is bad. Come on, the album is produced by Hollywood Records, so of course the equipment used to produce it is top-notch. However, once you take that all away and start to really get down to basics, shecan’t really sing. Some of you may think that it’s just a bad video or live recording that I heard, but I searched everywhere for every possible live video that I could find. Now, when I said that she can’t REALLY sing, what I meant was, she is talented, but she sounds just like every other teenage girl that releases an album nowadays. There’s nothing original or new that differs Selena from any other Disney star in the business(besides Demi Lovato, she is truly talented, but i’ll get to that later).
I know it’s a small complaint, but it still must be addressed. SELENA GOMEZ & THE SCENE. OF ALL NAMES, WHY WOULD YOU EVER CHOOSE THAT ONE.
First off, even Miley Cyrus is more “scene” than you. Seriously, was just Selena Gomez not enough? Did your band really need to be called “The Scene”? To be honest, I don’t personally mind it, but many people find a huge complaint in this. I just think that it’s the most unoriginal name she could have come up with, especially since she said this during an interview in July 2008,
“I’m going to be in a band - No Selena Gomez stuff. I’m not going to be a solo artist. I think that I don’t want my name attached to it.”
Come on, if every other Disney Star who makes an album had to go by their own name, did she really think that she could make it into a band?
Now, before you go and start yelling at me for poking fun at the band name, I know she only made it this way because people mock her for trying to be Scene. She also said that it bothers her, SO WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU EVER NAME YOUR SO-CALLED BAND THAT?
Anyway, this is getting WAY out of hand, I just wanted to give my personal opinion of the album. It’s not bad, it’s definitely not good, it sounds exactly the same as every other Disney Channel star’s album out there. Also, let me reiterate, I think Selena Gomez is very talented at acting, and I don’t hate her just for being associated with Disney Channel. Demi Lovato is in that whole Disney Channel mess, but there’s a huge difference.
Personally, (and I know that a lot of people agree with me) a lot of people would rather see Selena stick to acting and Demi stick to singing, they don’t both need to do both.
Oh! I know this has nothing at all to do with Selena Gomez, but have you seen Miley Cyrus’ Party In The U.S.A. video? It’s terrible, I know, i’ll also be doing a full review of that.
Well, this got WAY out of hand, but if you actually read the whole thing, then wow, thank you soooo much! Please tell me what you thought of my review, do you agree, disagree, never heard of it, please tell me. Also keep leaving your submissions for future reviews! Once again, thank you so much! (:
